Investing in tomorrow's scientific leaders, today.
Last week, our Executive Director Stephanie Saville attended the S.U.P.E.R. Research Symposium at the Eye Research Institute at Oakland University, a program PRRF proudly invests in every year, because today's student researchers could become tomorrow's scientific leaders, and the ones who help unlock new treatments for our community.
In her words:
"This year's presentations were especially meaningful. As RetiNova works toward bringing Noregen to patients, S.U.P.E.R. students are building on previous research to better understand how this promising therapy may impact different aspects of retinal disease. It was a true full-circle moment to see professional scientists advancing a potential treatment while the next generation of researchers expands our understanding of the underlying science.
It was equally inspiring to see students studying conditions like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Breakthroughs in one area of retinal research often lead to discoveries in others, which is why investing in the broader understanding of the retina and eye is so important. You never know where the next breakthrough will come from, or how it might change the lives of families in our community."
